The Team at WOODWORKERS NAPLES - Master Artisan, Chris Schoener

"Accentuating the natural character of the wood makes each piece unique.  Lacquer and tung oil create an iridescence like a pearl."
Chris Schoener

Woodworkers Naples pride ourselves in consistently being the leading provider of fine interior woodwork and finishes in Naples, Florida.  This accolade would not be possible without our team of passionate skilled artisans, who share decades of combined experience transforming blueprints into beautiful furniture, fine cabinetry and architectural details.

We value every individual at Woodworkers Naples and wanted to focus on some of our incredible artisans!  The latest addition to our team is the talented Chris Schoener, who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our workshop.  Not only a fine master woodworker with a lifetime of experience, Chris boasts organizational and project management skills, acquired from running his own fine woodworking workshop in New Orleans for 12 years.  (He was instrumental in rebuilding homes and furniture in the city post Hurricane Katrina in 2005.)  Chris specializes in intricate and complicated curved woodworking and has an incredible attention to detail throughout our projects.

Handcrafting exotic hardwoods such as rosewood, paduc, Australian lacewood and sassafras into exquisite pieces of furniture and art forms, has always been a lifelong passion.  Initially collecting waste exotic wood he couldn't bear to discard, (some of which is endangered), Chris meticulously began to recycle the waste into handcrafted pieces of art.  His obvious skill was quickly recognized and he found himself being commissioned to craft museum quality pieces.  This includes a wedding gift fashioned from purpleheart wood, reclaimed from the VA hospital benches in New Orleans, post Hurricane Katrina.

Art as a functional form - Rifle Blank formed by 20,000 slices of exotic wood laminated together.

His most elaborate creation to date is a blank of wood that will be carved by an architectural gunsmith into a bespoke shooting rifle.  The forend tip and rifle butt feature a beautiful checkerboard design, with the grain of wood running in the same direction to transfer energy towards the shoulder. The layers of glue between each slice act a shock absorbers, also to diminish energy towards the back.

A talented, dedicated addition to our team!

Woodworkers for CONSERVANCY of Southwest Florida - Sustainable Renovations

 The New Eaton Conservation Hall

CONSERVANCY of Southwest Florida work hard to protect and restore the unique, natural environment and quality of life in our region. The Nature Centre in Naples is an incredible environmental science research and education facility for water, land and wildlife and also incorporates the von Arx Wildlife Hospital.  Phase one renovations of the 21 acre Nature Centre were completed in Spring 2013.  The $20 million Nature Centre makeover integrated the highest level of green design and construction into the facility, incorporating green energy sources and achieving LEED certification on all buildings.

The Delnor auditorium was dramatically transformed into the Eaton Conservation Hall, which houses all environmental programs.  The Jeanie Meg Smith Theatre within has become a high tech educational facility, with surround sound and a giant immersive screen.

In keeping with the Conservancy's green ethos for sustainable renovations, Woodworkers, panelled the curved theatre with beautiful pecky cypress planks, recycled from the old Lutgert Commons.  A honey gold stain finish was then applied to bring the wood back to it's original splendor and the room finished with a copper ceiling.

Before & After: A Room with a View

The completed project - Easy Sophistication

This Summer, Woodworkers completed a kitchen project at a lakefront, picture-perfect residence in Naples Bath and Tennis Club, Florida.

The customer's requested a modern and unique feel to the kitchen, to complement their eclectic taste in furniture and focused on their casual family lifestyle.  They also expressed a desire to somehow transform a bedroom next to the kitchen, into a connecting media room.

Original kitchen

We began designing a contemporary, practical - yet stylish space, connecting the layout of the kitchen to the landscape, light and perfectly framed views of the lake, plunge pool and patio. We rethought the whole space, reworking completely by first removing two walls - opening the floor space to flow from main room, to kitchen with new media room, right through to the beautiful outdoors.  We further optimised the view by adding an island featuring a breakfast bar next to the patio doors and streamlined the cabinetry layout.

The finished kitchen features a stylish display of hi-gloss polished paint finish cabinetry with expansive Pompei Quartz counter top space for some serious cooking and entertaining.  Finishing touches include; solid walnut drawer boxes with faux ostrich skin lining, a fireplace and lift up pantry doors.
